HELLO BABY

I feel you move
I feel your tiny fists
Tiny Legs moving
And I know you are alive
Hello Baby, I say

I sing to you softly
So you can relax
And kick not frantically
And sleep in the confines of the secret place
Hello baby, I say

You wake me up
When you are hungry
I can feel the hunger you feel
I quickly feed
To sate you
Hello baby, I say

It is the last trimester
I will almost finally
Meet you my little angel
I will finally see you
I cant wait
To hear the sound of your cry
And laughter later, then your first words
when I say, Hello Baby
And you answer back!!

THE WONDER OF CREATION

I feel Life
On the inside
It grows and grows everyday
It is the wonder of creation

I hear it moving
Moving and breathing
I feel when its hungry
And when its uncormfotable
It lets me know
And none too gently
It is the wonder of creation

I hear its heartbeat
It beats and beats all the time
We are connected
Because we feed, move sleep and do everything together
We also do the most important thing of all
We love
That is the wonder of creation.

I AM AT PEACE

August here you are
The last of my first trimester
How I already feel tired
How the hunger pangs drive me crazy
How the mornings are endless

I have grown some
Both physically, emotionally and in maturity
I understand my woman nature better
I understand my fellow women better
The real women, not the brats

I consider my self blessed
I have been singled out
To bring forth, a blessing
I love my life
I have graciously accepted
I am at peace, as I await.

I HAVE THE GIFT

I have a gift
I love the gift
Maintaining the gift is a bit tricky
Requires effort
That is the beauty of the gift

Sometimes I wonder
Do I really deserve the gift
Am I worthy of the gift?
After all I have said and done
I still get to keep this special gift
God indeed is a God of several chances

I can't wait to finally appraise my gift
When it has thrived and looks strong
Thank you God
For giving me the gift

JUNE OH JUNE!

A great month you are
But with you comes the chill
The chill in my bones.
Young as they are, they feel the cold biting
I wonder how June will still be when am old and rickety

Reside I do in the land of the sun
But oh June!
You drive away the sun.
The feel in my bones
Which is cold cold cold
Tells me when June comes.

June Oh June!
I love the sun'
Don't make my days gloomy
With grey clouds
I love my days full of warm sunshine

I love to sit and bask in the beauty of the sunlight
Sunlight brings hope,
But June Oh June
The cold brings misery

I HAVE THRIVED

The Month of April
Great it has been
Days of singing and weeping I have had
Nights of soundness and restlessness I have had
Moments of surety and doubt I have had
But I have thrived all the same
I have surpassed, I have thrived

The Lord has been watching
My every step
He has smiled,
He has frowned,
He has comforted
And He has admonished
 I  love Him
He is my father and He thinks I have thrived

I have gone further journey-wise
More than ever
Experienced new haunts
New cultures and climates
I have Thrived
I intend to thrive forever

I CAN WALK TALL

The first trimester is coming to an end
The new beginnings I had established
They are going strong
I feel proud
I can walk tall

I relate well with everyone
I have grown some
Like a novice cow girl, who finally learnt to bridle a horse
I feel proud
I can walk tall

Mmmmhhh! they scorn,
She keeps him waiting!
Mmmmhh! And what is she up to?
Mmmmhh! she did it!!
Unbelieavable!

DELUSIONAL SUNSET

Tis serene, warm and glowing
Tis far off, there at the horizon
The birds have stopped chirping
The wind blows calmly
The country roads are quiet
Only the distant bark of a dog

The sunset, sits there
Very beautiful,
Lulling you into all is well
Whispering peace that you dont feel within
As you sit and watch it
It promises you better things
Better tommorow

You sit and watch the sunset
It calms you even more than the Vat 69 you are sipping
You sing to it
And it shines and smiles at you
It then beckons you
To ride with your lover
Into the delusional sunset!

THANKFUL AND HOPEFUL ALL THE SAME

Ah! the new year!
The first trimester of the year
So much hope, so much faith
Some major goals
Some major changes
Hell bent on carrying them out.
So desperately wanting everything to work out
And believing in God.
To come through this time

But grateful I will be
For all he has done over the years
For watching over me as I stumbled
For holding my hand when I needed someone to
For embracing me when I am torn and sad.
For giving me hope when there is nothing to believe in.
And for giving me love and a family

Hoping to do it differently this time.
Hoping to make a difference in every life I touch.

I NEED TO BREATHE

Please Please,
Somebody help me..
I need a breather
From a dreadful life..
A life of boredom
I need a spice
A spice to wake me up
From this mundane living

19 MINUTES

In nineteen minutes, you can clean your car, color your hair, watch a third of a Rugby game.
In nineteen minutes, you can cook ugali or get a tooth filled by a dentist; you can fold laundry for a family of five.
Nineteen minutes is how long it took the Kogalo team to beat Ingwe on the first half that day.
It’s the length of a sitcom, minus the commercials.
It’s the driving distance from  Dandora to the town of Nairobi minus the jam.
In nineteen minutes, you can order a pizza and get it delivered.
You can read a story to a child or install a new software  in your computer
You can walk a mile. You can sew a hem.
In nineteen minutes, you can stop the world, or you can just jump off it.
In nineteen minutes, you can get revenge.
But vengeance is mine saith the Lord

WOULD YOU RATHER...?

Some people would rather
But would you?
The sun rises and you rise with it everyday would you rather not awake?
The day ends with the sunset and you fall asleep, would you rather have insomnia?
The child grows within you after that passionate act, would you rather nothing was able to grow?
You wake beside your partner of twenty years every morning, would you rather wake up with another?
You still feel this painful-sweet feeling inside your heart because you care for someone and they don't would you rather your heart was stone?

Tis endmonth, you have all this bills to pay and so little income, would you rather not have an income?
Society dishes criticisms to you about your hard work, tis  painful and hard to live down would you rather not be creative?
They say you have a bad physical  shape and speak with an accent, would you rather be someone else?
They say you walk with a bad gait, would you rather be crippled?
They say you come from a family of not well to do folk, would rather not have a family?

Would you rather be someone else apart from your own self?
Would you rather not be true to thine own self?
Would you rather not live because the world is against you?
Would you rather live in hopelessness?
Would you rather stop trying?
Would you rather cow because you are afraid?
Would you rather not believe in God and found out in the end that HE is real?
Think about it.

WHO IS WORTHY?

Who is worthy?
Who is worthy of my allegiance?
Who is worthy of my affection?
Who is worthy of my devotion?
Who is worthy of my faith?
Who is worthy of my time, money and possessions?
Who is worthy of my dreams, hopes and future?
Who is worthy of my hands, feet, mind and heart?

Who is worthy?
Who is worthy of my giving?
Who is worthy of my Sunday mornings?
Who is worthy of my living with integrity?
Who is worthy of my sharing with friends and strangers?
Who is worthy of my complete trust?
Who is worthy?
Who is worthy living for?
Who is worth going to jail for?
Who is worth dying for?

The vote is in. Every polling station has reported.
All the votes are counted and there is no rigging. It is unanimous.
Worthy is the lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!”
REVELATION 5:12

WHERE ?

Where am I God
Your Word says that you have me at the palm of your hand
Your Word tells me that you have given me the land
Your Word tells me that I should never be moved
Your Word assures me that if I believe my faith will be proved.
Yet here I am feeling stuck in something that I don't know
I feel that my life is not making sense
I feel as if am going for the sake of going
The intellectuals  talk and treat me as if am dense
Now and past tense

Few things look right in my life
Few things go right in my life
Things I have done I regret, Oh how I wish to forget.
Past actions mock me day and night
Even in my quiet time with you.

The thoughts become frightening
I pray and yet feel not any forgiveness
I beseech you Lord, of your protection
From the evil ones

Expressions of my heart are taken lightly
Scorned and trampled on, leaving me wounded and worn
I look at you Lord, and my vision is blocked
By the weight of this world that I long to rid myself of

Help me find my way Lord; help me know what to do
Crying and pleading, my heart yearns to feel your comfort
Help me Lord to Finally be free.

I see that sun in the east, it has a lot of promise
I read your word, feeling like a child of a King
I am a chosen generation, a royal priesthood
With all the titles I carry,of  woman, daughter, sister, writer, worshiper and friend
I am great ful!
I will finally be free, I feel this strongly
Thank you Lord for not passing me by!

WHAT IF.....

What if you slept?
And what if in your sleep, you dreamed?
And what if in your dream, you went to heaven
and there plucked a strange and beautiful flower?
And what if, when you woke, you had the flower in your hand?
Ah! What then?

What if for a long time you wished?
The impossible..
Okay, at least impossible to you
Then one day you wake up,
And what if the impossible became true
And finally becomes fact.
Ah What then?

CLOSER!

Looking for a color in a shade of gray
Looking for love in a drop of rain
Trying to find change from the old mundane
Everything I do just feels the same

Spending my life out in the desert

Been gone so long feels like forever

I just want to be closer to you

I just want to be closer, I am yours
You can have all of me anything, everything
I just want to be closer

A day without you is a thousand years
A day without you is a million tears
Tell me *why do I run* when I am in fear
Why do I run when you are so near

Spending my life out in the weather

Been gone so long and I need some shelter

Where ever you go

Where ever you are
I just want be there with you
I just want to be closer to you
I just want to be closer
I am yours
You can have all of me anything everything
I just want to be closer
I just want to be closer to you
I just want to be closer
I am yours
You can have all of me anything, everything
I just want to be closer

Looking for a color in the shade of gray
Looking for love in a drop of rain

I BEHELD THE UNIVERSE!

I beheld the universe in all its beauty.

To be conscious, to think, to feel, to perceive! My mind soared, inhaling planets, tasting stars, touching galaxies — forms dim and diffuse revealed by sensors pointing ever outward, unveiling an infinitely mysterious, vastly ancient realm.

Such a joy to be alive; so thrilling to have survived!

I beheld Earth and all its diversity.

My thoughts leapt now here, now there, now elsewhere, skimming the surface of the planet that had given me birth, the globe to which I was bound by a force greater than gravity, a place of ice and fire, earth and air, animals and plants, day and night, sea and shore, a beguiling fusion of a thousand contrasting dualities, a million ecological niches, a billion distinct locales — and a trillion things that lived and died.

Such elation at having foiled the attempt to kill me; so exhilarating, at least for the moment, to be safe!

I beheld humanity with all its complexity.

Washing over me was a measureless bounty of data about sports and war, love and hate, building up and tearing down, helping and hurting, pleasure and pain, delight and anguish, and triumphs large and small

the physical, emotional, and intellectual experiences of isolated individuals, of families and teams, of villages and states, of solitary countries and alliances of nations — the fractal intricacy of human interactions

Such glorious freedom; so comforting to know that at least some of these other minds valued me!

I beheld what my love beheld in all its endless variety.

Of all the sources, all the channels, all the feeds, one meant more to me than any other: the perspective granted through the eye of my teacher, the view provided by my first and closest friend, the special window he kept open for me on the whole wide world.

Such marvels to share — and so much wonder.

BEAUTIFUL SOUND

One may ask, beautiful sound? What is it?
I say anything that warms your heart
When you hear it, then beautiful it is.
Beautiful may be, the sound of children's laughter
The sound of chirping birds
Of lapping waves against rocks or a vessel.
Of a happy barking dog.
Of a trumpeting elephant
Of the the wood pecker
Of a horse neighing
Or of the stream flowing
Or of ducks clucking

Or should I go domestic?
Some of us live not in natural surroundings
The sound of a sleek car moving
Or of the broom sweeping
Or soft sound of the strokes of the brush of a painter
The sound of a hosing pipe hosing
The sound the hair blow dryer
The sound of typing on a keyboard
The sound of falling coins
The sound of a mouth organ, or a harmonica, or the guitar, or a piano, or simply drums

Now lets get a bit personal
How about the sound of a contented lover? The sigh..or the groan
Or the sound of breathing
The sound of bodies touching, oh yes, there is a sound
The sound of kissing
The sound of love
The sound of dreams
Or of fingers clucking
Or of wind against your ears
Or of your rubbing your own skin
Or of swallowing food, or liquid

But the best sound is the sound of beautiful music...mine or yours it just has to be beautiful
